Default EX vtec or ZC???

Sup guys...i have two deals in hand right now...i gotta guy who wants to sell me an EX Vtec motor with 129000 miles on it for 450 and another who wants 300 for a ZC with 50,000 miles on it. Problem is...the ZC motor...dunno if it runs good (compression and all) and the EX was in a civic that's now gotta b16 in it. I'm not sure what to go for. Some of my guys said the EX would be alot quicker in my 90 civic hatch (DX). But then the TORQUE!!!! is what i like the most. Let me know what you guys think.

You should really do a search on this topic as it has been brought up over and over.

Well my brother has a ZC in his 88 Rex, and I have a 95 sohc vtec in my 90 hatch. Let's just say that he came from behind me to beat me by about 2 car lengths in a street light race. The ZC is faster and has more torque. It's also easier to swap than the Z6 because you don't have to worry about vtec. I'm actually looking to get a ZC and get rid of my Z6.

Haven't heard bad things about ZC. I had SOHC vtec myself. Although I would like to say it was pretty quick (yeah right), ZC should be quicker and have more torque which you should get if you can get it with torque deprived motors.

I had people I know with ZC's, they eventually swapped out for Bseries, but they still loved their ZC's because of the simplicity. One of the guys that did even hated the LS he put in it's place compaired to the ZC he had.

that race would sound just about right...if you think about it...the 88 crx does weigh alot lighter then the DX does, not a WHOLE lot...but enough to do that. I have a 90 civic si head on my dx block right now...my guys gotta 90-91 si motor in his 90 HF crx...he beats me about 2-3 cars too!

Well he has the 88 crx Si, and I have the 90 civic std. The weight should be pretty close, because his car is pretty heavy.

The 88 CRX Si is the lightest out of all the 88-91 CRX Si's. My 89' si is just under 2000 lbs, while my bro's 88' B16 Si is only about 100 lbs heavier... We used a truck scale to measure both the front and rear weight of both our cars, and guess what??? His 88 is significantly lighter in the rear (due to slightly different suspension??), both of us have stripped rear interiors and no sound deadening.
