1990 Prelude Si 2.1 ltr. Steering & Clutch
So I have this new to me car, 188k. Some engine and trans work has been done. I haven't driven any others so the feel of somethings I have questions about. Just want to see if it's normal for this one. Have'nt been huge on Honda, I've leaned toward German. But this car is fun and pretty quick, I like the "cockpit view" the best. Sort of like my old 914!
1. Clutch is different, it's sharp to engage and feels high in the pedal traval. It almost feels like it pops into gear vs a smoother transition like the BMW 325 e30's. Is this normal? I'm thinking it's worn, not slipping yet but guessing it's close?
2. The steering doesn't feel quite right, feels like there's a little to much play. At a stand still I can turn the wheel 2-3 inches then a slight thump and the wheels start moving. While driving, it feels pretty much normal. I read a review about a variable steering mechanism that Honda produced. Supposedly, it feels like power steering at a stand still or at slow speeds and rack and pinion at high speed. Is this what I'm feeling or is it something more pronounced like a worn rack or faulty power steering pump?
Thanks fella's (oh and Gal's)!!!
