Default help on strut bar on ej8 (searched)

yes i searched and didn't get far due to the billions of posts on strut bars...

the car: 99 ex coupe (ej8 chassis, d16y8 motor)
the budget: ~50ish

was wondering which strut bar (without pivots like the cheap ebay ones) would work on my car. i read somewhere stock gsrs or si's would work? also, can they bolted right up the strut towers or do i have to get holes drilled. i prefer to find one that can be bolted right up the strut towers. also, do the bolts have to be torqued a certain amount?

i will be taking my car to a shop to get the bar installed so id like to get all info i need.

thx h-t

like i asked...if they have to be torqued to a certain amount, that'd be a problem. no money for renting tools, etc.

also the problem with jacking up the front end onto jack stands or cyn blocks (which 1. i cant afford the jack stands and 2. dont have anywhere around me for miles to find cyn blocks) so the wheels are off the ground. and since my car is 6 years old, im afraid of either 1. stripping the strut bolts or 2. ending up breaing them from forcing em off. ive already attempted to get em off and ended up just rounding off the bolt head without moving em a millimeter even with grease.

I dont wanna sound like Im flaming but this is the easiest mod next to an air freshener. All you need is a ratchet and a 14mm socket. Anyone who wants to work on there car should have some basic tools. Take your $50 dollars down to Sears and pick your self up some tools so you dont waste your money paying people to do the work for you. You will save alot of money over time doing things yourself.

correct.. you donty need a jack, or any special tools to do a strut bar.. and the strut bolts are usually not rusted or anything since they are high in the engine bay.. and please dont take your car to a shop.. they WILL laugh at you while they take your money for the 15 min install.

like i said its the easiest install.

i understand you lack the tools and knowledge.

for hondas your only gunna need metric sockets, wrenchs, you can almost completely dissasemble a honda with a 12mm and 14mm sockets and wrench,

buy a socket set, wrenchs, maybe some different size drives, screw driver and youll be set, you can do alot with that, a jack/ramps and slowly youll learn your away around your car.

You gotta start somewhere!
