Default D16Y8 - SOHC Mounts - What are you running? >>

I just want to see what all the SOHC guys are running for mounts. I have the ES inserts for the rear and 2 lower mounts.

im interested in the other 2 mounts. i think one is the tranny mount on the passenger side, and the other i guess is an upper engine mount. It's the mount on the upper driver side right near the cam gear. what are you using for these mounts?

im having serious wheel hop issues, and these 2 mounts look worn. I just ordered a Full-Race traction bar so hopefully that might help as well

Running JimFab torque mounts. The interior vibrates like mad but, the engine hardly moves. I think my rear mount is blown.

i know this thread is probably regarding ek's but i have a y8 in a crx

upgraded to es motor mounts, still had some wheel hop. went with es strut rod bushings which are basically radius arm bushings, this solved almost all the problems

still get slight hop but its litterally all gone now

it is a "shock" the is supposed to kep the motor from torque'ing back towards the firewall.
i have one and i like it.

once i get back to the dyno, ill do a pull with and without to see exactly how much it helps

but for ~$50 at nopi.com, i figured what the hell

Pre-loading: Hold the e-brake up, let clutch up just enough so you can feel the car pull, while holding the revs at what ever you want to launch at. You drop the cluth and the e-brake at the same time. Off you gooooo!

taken from this thread:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=770050

While in the pre stage, With the e-brake up (button pushed in/removed) Let the clutch out just enough to where it feels as if the car wants to pull forward. Set your Launch RPM. "Pump" the car forward by letting the E-brake up/down slightly until you're staged. When you feel it's go time let the e-brake down in the same motion the clutch is being released.

taken from this thread:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1382054

there was s good write up on preloading
i searched the drag racing forums but couldnt find it.
might try searching the entire site for preload.

it is basically what is said above.
its easier to go from alittle bit or rpms to alot then from a dead stop to 6k rpms.

hope i helped.

i found the damper to. so i guess the only unanswered question is about the torque mounts. what are the part numbers for inserts, and are these for the 2 mounts i was talking about.

llewsirc,

great info man. thank you.

im going to order that NRG damper. is there any difference from that to the ingalls one. just looks like the ingalls is more money.

it would be nice to feel a little power before 3rd gear. i want to take my car back to the dyno to turn the boost up, but there is no reason if i cant get power now.

if you already ordered the full-race traction bars i wouldnt really worry about it, from what i recall you can get inserts for the top mounts in an ek and then you'd be set

brian

also it depends alot on your suspension setup

I bought all 3 lower jimfab motor mounts for $110 shipped and that completely eliminated my wheel hop. My motor is now rock solid.

wow.
you should deff learn to preload.

i run skunk2 coilovers, stock (~199k miles) shocks, nrg damper, stock motor mounts.
i preload and can get 2.1 60fts (on BFG DR's)
with alittle more seat time im sure 2.0s are doable.

preload

How well does the TQ dampener work? Any info? Will it bolt onto a zcsohc or d16a6?

Default Nopi Link

Can someone post a link on NOPI site where you can get this for $50? I might try one of these dampers for $50.

To me, the traction bars made the biggest difference in the world. Mount helped but not as much as the bars did.
