I run an Alpine HU and Eclipse 6.5" 2ways front and rear in my 94 LS and although extensive work was done to mount the speakers to get the best possible sound out of them, I run no amps or subs and am using the stock speaker wire, the SQ and bass response is very good......

The type of speaker really doesn't have much to do with not having any highs... A midbass driver will produce highs if highs are fed into it... Granted, they're not gonna be bright and clear like a tweeter but they'll still be there... If you don't want highs coming through, you'll need a crossover of some kind...

The tweeters are disabled on the rear speakers, the HU is a 4x60, [27Wx4 RMS at 14.4V into 4ohms, EIA-517 standard] 94
