WTB: Megan or DC Header?
I have a 98 civic ex coupe(D16Y8) w/ short ram and catback. i either want to get DC Sports 4-2-1 ceramic header or Megan Racing stainless steel 4-2-1 Header. Megan Racing one comes with resonator and is about $60 bucks cheaper. What would u guys get??? thanks

IMOP both are more of a cosmetic accesory, they dont make any sort of power difference......infact I dont think they do anything at all besides change your exhaust sound and look better than a rusty manifold. Ive heard of companies saying that they have had proven dyno results that it did nothing between manifold and headers. I think you should go with a more serious header. Look around for other products, Im not really sure what they make for D series motors but Im sure there's ones out there. AEM just bought out DC sports so maybe youll be able to find something decent from them. Good luck

Are you serious??
DC is by far the best bang for the buck header. Megan headers are dyno proven results.

Was this a joke? To the OP: you are not going to get **** for power out of bolt-ons with this motor (unless it's a turbo that you are bolting on). Sad, but true.

And changing out the stock ignition is going to do what?! Look pretty?

i bouts a dc header for my car, and it only cost me 150 bucks. it was in great condition too.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Used parts for the win! I almost picked up a GReddy SOHC header a little over a year ago for $100, but decided against it because I was going turbo.
I'd stick with DC. They put the R&D into developing the product, Megan just copied the product.
I'd also look more into a cam and valvetrain. Friend's SOHC runs 14.2 w/ basic bolts ons, cam, and valvetrain.

You do get small power increase with headers but that's only when paired with other major upgrades(read fine print on those Dyno results there's more there then headers) The best thing you get is ceramic coated headers because after heating up they don't crack when water hits then. Cast iron does. It's like heating up glass and dropping it in cold water.
I also have a d16y8. . .and i was wondering if getting a header would cause it to fail emissions test? But if i was going to get a header though. . first thing i want to make sure is if it will pass the test or not. . .second i do beleive i would go with a ceramic coated one. .. and unless the DC or Megan acctually do any different for the power gain .. i would definatly go for whatever is cheaper. Cheaper mostly because it really isn't going to make much of a power gain if any (4-5) so why spend big $ on something that isn't going to make too much diff any way? Unless you just want to be able to tell people that you have that DC name under the hood, i think i would choose the megan.
