Hey guys I have a 93 lude (h23) and the 3rd gear is driving me nuts. It grinds all the time. Low and at high rpm's except when I first start up the car and drive for a bit. Syncros or fluid?

Also my BREAK LAMP light is on. Tried fluid and nothing. What the hell?

Could be both.

My suggestion - start with the more cheaper diagnosis and go from there.

Try changing the fluid and see.

I don't think it would be the synchro because isn't the synchro controlling two gear sleeves?

Something could be wrong with the hub/sleeve.

 

My 93 H22 had the same problem. It is probably the syncros. Not very cheap to fix though. Just use a light hand when u shift and ease into the gear. It will run for a while though.

 

yea definately the syncro. well technically its the blocker ring. but same thing. the blocker ring would only cost say 20 bucks, but seeing how your still driving it your going to need to replace the speed gear and the sleeve. thats more like 200 or so.
