Hi guys I have a few questions, hope you guys can help me out
1. How different between after market pistons and sleaves (crower, golden eagle, JE...) compare to stock pistons and sleaves? (compression ratio i think they are the same, both of them are 9.0:1, hardness and price i dont know) (97 B20b block with 95 GSR vtec Head) Is it safe enough to just rebuild the engine and use blockguard?
2. How can you tell the turbine (the snail) is stil good?
3. If the turbine is not good could it burn oil and make alot of smoke come out of muffler?
4. Which one you guys referred, resleave engine with after market parts + pistons or rebuild with stock parts + blockguard and save money?
These questions are regarding my engine making alot of smoke. I dont know the engine is blown or the turbine is gone. I want to know which one i should fix turbo or engine.

 

1. i dont really understand what you're looking to know.
2. check for shaft play, also take off your downpipe and look for any oil deposits.
3. if the turbo is shot, yes the seals could be leaking causing smoke.
4. what are your goals for the setup.
