Honda or VW ?
I have been in the market for a car for about 8 months now, i have a Toyota Camry that i drive, that blows, but i would like to really get a Jeep Lifted to dick around with and have some fun but GAS is KILLING ME with it going up and up and up. I like the convertible's. Like that Del Sol or the Cabrio from VW. My friend has a 95 del sol that has seen better days but he said once he gets a new car he would sell it to me for cheap. (but it will prob need a new clutch, shifter, guages, and a few other things ) possible a new motor down the line. Or i have run across a guy selling a beautiful VW Cabrio up north, its a 1990 with less than 60K on it. so im looking at a 16 year old car, but this is beautiful, and deff been taken care of.
They are both Convertibles and they would both be great to have, esp in the summer. I know honda's are reliable and they last a long time and there are tons of parts out for them but having a classic Vw would be just as fun. I guess what would you choose ?

del sol is a targa top, aka removable roof. not a convertible. thats like calling a supra a convertible. IMO, both the del sol and vw cab are gurly cars but if that's what you want, then that's what you want. depends on what year vw you want as some were crap, some were ok. del sol is a honda so it last almost for ever. if you want a nice looking honda convertible, get a s2000

Choose the VW if you own stock in a Wiring company
Del sol's arent the greatest, but IMO, way better than the VW. Too many electrical problems.

Actually my sister in law owned a 1990 White Cabrio with White Leather interior. She had a frankenstein 2.0L bottom end straddled to her stock head and that thing moved pretty nice. For years that she owned it there was no problems with it whatsoever
Whatever you do , do not get a Volkswagen that you have to work on. If you get a VW , get a new one. But even those suck! A Volkswagen is like 5lbs of **** in a 1lb box. They're a biatch to work on , and they suck. I slid away from Honda for about a year , I was trying to rebuild an MK2 Wolfsburg. What a pile of crap! You have to take 1/2 the motor apart to do anything! They SUCK! And that's my opinion. Make a long story short , I finished the Dub and sold it back to the kid I got it from for free and bought my EG.
Honda>Volkswagen

This is the one i was looking at. 1990 with 56K org miles on it.

About $3000 right now (is that a weird price for a 16 year old car ???)

i second that...i used to work for a VW dealership and i saw Cabrio's coming in all the time for numerous problems, not just wiring. I'd take the del sol.

How Much did you have to spend? 6k right?
I'd talk him down to $2,500 and hold onto the difference.

Dont ever choose a hitler mobile over a honda...That would not be wise, they are total crap!!!!They pop-rivet the diffs together!!! I dont even think GM does that!!!
