How big of a tire size can you go on a crx
Is this for a show car, or a race car? Or just for daily street driving?
What make and model of tires are you using? Remember, in most cases you can improve the performance of your tires by buying a better, stickier model of tire in the same size, rather than getting wider tires, which won't make as big a difference.

exactly, 215 will probably be to wide if lowered at all, a tire like Falken Azeni RT-615 in 205/50/15 will by far outperform a 215/45/15 tire of lower quality such as even tires like Toyo Proxes 4, Kumho MX!

If you're getting Azenis (very sticky but very fast wearing), 205/50-15 is the best you can do. If you want something that lasts longer, there are several good choices in 195/50-15 (which is actually a better choice for daily driving on a CRX then 205/50, and a better match for the speedometer and odometer) - notably the Goodyear F1 GS-D3 in that size (currently $78/tire after rebate, just an outstanding tire, won the December test in Car and Driver), and the Toyo T1-R, which isn't as good as the Goodyear but sells for $60/tire at onlinetires.com
The best 16" size Falken Azenis for a CRX is 205/40-16. 215/45-16 is too big (4 percent larger outer diameter than stock) and will cause your car to accelerate slower in each gear, and will throw off the speedometer and odometer.
