Default Help me confirm what I suspect-Grommets

well my D15B7 has been idiling a little rough and makin a slight wrx ish gurgling sound. I plan to mini me once I find a good deal on a z6 head so i didnt want to dump too much money into it, so just put in fresh plugs. I noticed oil on the plug in my #3 cylinder. I know this can be related to o rings in the head or piston rings but Im not noticing any black plumes coming out of my exhaust so my guess is o rings and instead of fixing them ill just get hoppin on a z6 head. I want to get some opinions and see what you think the problem is. thanks.

Cliffs:
-D15B7
-Oil on #3 Plug
-Slight WRX gurgle sound

Compression Test Results
195-190-200-195

therefore its probably not piston rings and most likely the stupid grommets. Do you guys agree?

if your burning oil, the exhaust will probably have a bluish tint, not black.

oil on plugs i belive is bad rings, do a compression test and if your car sounds like a wrx that is most likely a dead cyl.

the car doesnt run like its down a cylinder...its a very slight gurgle not really too rough. It definately doesnt feel like its missing.

Def. do a compression test. so you can see if it is piston rings or not. That is what you want to avoid if you are just gonna slap a new head on there anyway.

alright, ill check the compression later today....hopefully it will rule out the piston rings

I blew the #2 cylinder using nitrous and found oil on the spark plug, the engine ran horribly because only 3 cylinders were firing, plus white smoke came out the exhaust. Thank god for the extended warranty!

that sucks, all 4 of mine are firing with good compression, so Im almost postive its due to the stupid grommets in the valve cover

you didn't say where you found the oil at on the plug. if it were the gromments in the valve cover that were leaking then the oil would be on the upper half. but if it were piston rings then they would be on the lower half of the plug.

it could also be your valve seals if the oil is on the bottom half.

I had a turboed b7 a long time ago w/ oil where the spark plugs were, and if memory serves me correct, it was valve seals.

the oil was on the bottom end of the plug but upon furter inspection there was oil on the boot too so it could of dripped down the threads when i was takin it out. the compression check ruled out piston rings i believe, so that means the problem is somewhere in the head and since i plan on swappin it, it doesnt matter. thanks for all the input
