Did you tighten it with two big *** wrenches? Did you use lock-tite?
It took me a couple hours to figure mine out. Its been good for a year now.

I have this kit and have installed two other like this and they all work perfect. Just make sure your bushins are good and the two bolts on the shift stabilizer and the the actual shifter are very tight, I had the same thing cause they were tight but still tuned alittle. My buddy took his out put them in a vise, tighten the f@#k out of them and they never move again, same with mine

Also, check the busting/bearing on the bottom of your shifter where it connects to the linkage./

Dude, I feel you. I bought the HCP linkage and b-series mounts together because thaey were cheaper. You get what you pay for. With the mount kit, I used the y1 tranny and the 90-91 integra rear motor mount bracket and I had to cut the bracket AND my rear sub-frame to make it work. No one had mentioned that until I called HCP and they told me that was normal with the setup I had. As for the linkage, it took a while. I swear that the linkage could fit a few different ways and still work. My recommmendation would be to take it off, use a bolt instead of the pin to get the linkage the way you want it, then put in the pin and c-clip. I learned the hard way. To be honest now that it is all over, I like it. The mounts do not vibrate as much as the PLace kit, and the shift linkage is actually pretty tight and accurate. Took me a while to make it right, and I am a little unhappy with the fact that the shifter bar hangs lower than my exhaust at one point. Good luck to you and all future HCP victims.

Welcome to the world of aftermarket. You should have left it a dseries motor or went to ZC then.

If you disagree, oppose it....
If you want to be a smart ***....SUCK it

Couldn't you have just read my post and left it alone? I am trying to make the dude feel better about his swap, WTF's the problem.

......d-series, or ZC, like I couldn't handle it or something, handle this.

Someone else that hates the HCP EF-18X! And don't tell me I did it wrong either. If I did what the instructions said, my motor would still be on the hoist. I'll take pictures of my rear crossmember if anyone doesn't believe me. All that cutting and it still rubs. P.O.S. HASport is on the way...

i got the HCP mount kit and adj. shift linkage...i have had no prblems w/ the kit or shift linakge...i just followed the instructions that came with it..cut my rear crossmember and it fit and didin't rub or anything...w/the shift linkage it was kinda tricky at first but it worked out fine....had to get used to the way it felt but i have had no problems so far...in my mind the HCP EF-18X kit is fine...i have plenty of friends using the same kit and they too had no problems...

Haha...I love this forum. I am saying that stop and think about what is involved in making these mount kits work, in all the applications, old cars, wrecked cars, tweaked cars and tell me that everything that you have installed aftermarket on your car has fit perfect. These are the things that we run into when doing engine swaps. Deal with it!

I think 4G4ME was simply stating that he was a bit disappointed that the kit didn't say anything about chopping the subframe ETC. sure, it is the cheapest kit on the market, and you DO get what you pay for. I have the place racing kit and I didn't have to cut ANYTHING, the motor practically fell in place. There is a bit more vibration than I am happy with, but everything has its drawbacks right? As for the comment about keeping the D series or ZC swap, that was rediculous If we had that frame of mind, trust me we wouldn't be buying 4Th generation civics. Someone asked about the HCP kit, others expressed their experiences with it, why bash them for it??? Hey, at least those who choose to save $100 can decide if its worth it to them to do all of the cutting to end up with the same result if not better than one of the more expensive kits. I think a think before you post attitude should be used more often here.

Thanks
Chris

No attitude.....just tired of seeing like 15 posts a month about my linkage wont fit....my rear cross member wont fit....my front cross member wont fit.... I am just saying that this is the world of aftermarket. Nothing is going to fit exactly right and feel exactly right. The D or ZC was an option that many people take to avoid all the Bseries grief.

ok it's a 88 rex w/ b-16a. When it's in neutral, in 1,2,3,4,5 gear it has way too much play. IE: rowing a boat. Damn yeah i was expecting to cut both front and rear X members but not making a dent in the frame rail. anyway i guess i'll get back to getting the linkage squared away. If you guys can get it nice and tight i don't see a reason why i can't do it eaither.

No, no, the problem here is just HCP. Do it right the first time, and get HASport, how many posts have you seen about the hasport linkage not fitting or working properly?? Makes you think, huh?

I just cut and welded my '92 LS linkage. 2 3/4" off the straight section about 1 1/2' rear of the tranny. You may want to make sure you aren't missing any bushings though and that everything on the bottom half of the shifter is snugged down.

I've seen even more posts of people saying, Ohh yeah, it's just a bolt-in swap. Just do this, this and this. No prob. Then people go and get to the point where they have to cut down their crossmembers, or hammer in the frame rail, and they go WTF? No one said anything about that.

I complain not because I had to cut stuff to make it fit, but because of how close to the firewall the HCP kit places the motor. IMHO, that rear mount should stick up higher and be farther forward so the rear bracket isn't so close to the rear crossmember. My opinion, so don't trip.

You have to hammer the frame rail with the Hasport kit also.

Why do you think these are hybrids here, If it all fit perfect that would make it to easy on us. But all kits that i have seen require alittle bangin and cut here and there. Also if you have been hit, the frame tweeked, or hit a curb, will move stuff around so don't be suprised when you have to ..... modify fromthe directions
