DTT turbo timer?

DTT turbo timer?
Noone in the FI section seems to have any idea so my ? is can i use the blitz DTT in lue of a boost gauge? How does it read boost, from an acutal vaccume line (like any other boost gauge) or does it only know what an ecu tells it?
