1989 LXI
My wife's LXI won't start. Sounds like it is trying to start but won't.
No clue what it is but would like some ideas.
Things on my mind are:
Plugs?
Fuel Injectors?
Not sure.. appreciate any help!

Go for the basics, check for spark and check to see if there is fuel pressure; pull a plug wire from the dist cap and hold it 1/4 inch away while someone cranks the engine over, see if there is spark, then you can loosen the bolt on the fuel filter to check for fuel pressure. The spark plugs are prone to fouling/flooding on cold starts with your engine, Stick with NGK standard plugs Repost with further info to get more help A lot of simple diagnostics can be done with a test light
Another thought just hit me [ouch] you can check for flash codes on the ECU under the drivers seat; look under the seat from the rear floor board, there is a little cap that covers the LED window... turn on the ignition switch and watch for flashes, and yes open the oil cap and check for cam rotation when cranking to be sure the T-belt is still there.

I didn't know about the LED. I'll check that out since she mentioned that the CEL came on about a week ago.

You said that the spark was good ...why spend money on stuff you don't need?
Did you pull a spark plug to see if it was soaked with gas? Are you getting fuel pressure?

When I said spark was good.. I was testing a spark plug in the wire from a different car. When I pulled the plugs, they were bad.. VERY bad. Infact, my first thought was to get plugs/wires/cap/rotor/air filter.. so I did, and it was fixed.
Thanks for the help.
