I m thinking of buying a CRX with a B18C engine. Plz tell me what should i concider?
The B18C i m talking about is the JDM Type R engine. It also have the ecu and tranny as well. It have 14,000 km on it, not miles.
Anyways, i m thinking of buying a CRX and swap in the engine. Will it fit? I heard there might be a fitment problem.
Also, what kinda time slip will i get most likely in the 1/4 mile?
Any possiblility i will make it into the 13's even if the engine is bone stock?
Thx for your reply.

Hi!
B18C5 is a beautiful choice for CRX. I have this engine in my EE8 chassis. It will fit more then fine. As for the tranny one Dude from the honda-tech fitted the S80 Type-R but he had to customize right mount and still he lacks 2 out of 5 original B18C5 mounts. Going with 3 motor mounts only instead of 4 that come in CRX is a kind of risk with 200PS engine IMHO. My B18C6 (Euro version) is mated with Y21 cable type tranny - that bolts right on. You can also use Type-R pressure plate and joints with that setup. And of course remember to get B-series mounts!
How much is that B18C5+S80 setup? Does it have ECU+wiring harness?

Then i guess swaping in the engine will be quite hard? Running 3 mounts only seems kind of dangerous.
However, if it is possible, i would like to do it as well.
There is everything included in the engine. Wiring harness, ECU, Tranny and of cuz the engine inself.
The reason i want to do this swap because the engine have very low KM on it and it is selling for a pretty damn good price.
The second reason is, i have a friend that might sell his type R. He got a **** load of stuff in his garage that are brand new.
If i bought the engine, i can buy it off him for a good price such as
Jun stage 3 cams, Jun titan retainer, Jun valve spring, Jun cam gears, UR underdrive pulley, Spoon balance pistions. I don't i will buy the Spoon pistion since the pistion stock in the engine is just as high comp as spoon. I m thinking to go with Jun again. As for the header, i m thinking to go with SS Work's header and also SS Work's individual throttle body intake manifold.
This is the plan. If the engine swaps in fine i will buy the car. If not, then i need to think twice of buying it.

check this story out on rex vt's board, this'll apply to you since you've got a similar chassis.... http://crxfiles.hondapowered.com/cgi...swapstory.html
Damn that is a lot of trouble swaping in the B18C engine in there, and the tranny don't even fit!!
That means i have to buy an additional SiR tranny.
The performance is only 6.7 second, it isn't even as good as i thought it would be on a light car like CRX. On a type R, 6.7 second is easy. I thought on a crx would be like 6.0 or 6.1
Then if there are so much problem to the swap, i don't think i will be doing it.
Maybe i will just find a EK or EG

Hey guys! The car on a REXVT's "crxfiles" page is mine if you haven't noticed
I'm not telling S80 Type-R tranny is NOT possible, well it is but I don't know the solution for 4th and 5th motor mount that are missing with it. As for performance, my best run so far is 6.5 but look what tires do I have!!! Those are 185/65R14 Winter tires and still 2 years old = worn out. With that kind of shitty grip you really can't do better! The problem is I can't lounch without spinning, even at 2000rpm. Better consider my 0-160km/h performance which is like 12.2 seconds. I don't have G-tech meter to give you 1/4 mile result. Maybe next time.
