Default a few questions

hello. i'm 17 and i just recently got my first car, an AT 93 accord se. i love this car. it's great. all i was wondering about is that because it has about 163,500 miles on it, do you think there could be some upcoming problems with the car? i have to say my car is in top condition for it's age. no rust, a great maintenance record... i'm still just a little antsy about the mileage. i'm not sure if this is really a good pick for pick up and go type driving. a while back i did push it a little hard and now everytime i drive it, it just wants to accelerate very fast. is this alright for the age and mileage of the car? just normal acceleration from 2nd to 3rd gear is around 4000 rpm on the tachometer. the car also has a very high idle and occasionally vibrates a lot when sitting at a stop light. it would be nice to know if this car has a lot of life left in it or if there could be some possibly very expensive repairs in my future.

I dont own a 4th gen myself, but believe me, 165k is nothing, with proper maintenance, you'll sell the car before it ever dies, you can get 300k out of it easy. The only thing i'd worry about is the tranny, 4th gens arent that bad, but honda auto trannies arent hte greatest things in the world, I must say...

Don't worry about it.I have two 4gens [thats the years between 1990-1993] And my 190 had 300.000 on it before the engine threw a rod.And that was only because I let my younger sister borrow it for like three months and she never checked the oil...I found anouther engine for it for 250 bucks with only 100k on it.The auto trans is still going strong........The shaking wile the car is idleing is probably the rear trans mount....I bet it settles down alot when you put it in neutral doesn't it. that cars gonna last you a long time yet

your car will still last a long time, just make sure you do the regular tune ups and **** like that. i have a 92 accord with over 177,000 miles on it and it runs great. i occasionally rev the crap out of it when i feel like going faster than the usual and it has no problems. so far. only thing is the car idles really low like at 200 rpm's when it hasn't been running for at least 10 minutes. but that happened after my mom crashed it. fixed it and it still runs good.

All accord trannies before the 6th gen cars (1998-2002) are very reliable as long as you properly maintain it. my 1994 is a savaged car and it still runs with functional air and auto trans. It's starting to show it's age in years though as it is time to start replacing all of the rubber parts (I live in MN)
