sub wiring questions
i recently aquired another sub and amp. the amp i bought supposedly has overheating problems because it's so small. any suggestions on what to do to let it cool better? ill be running 2 amps off one 4g power cable with a splitter to 2 8g. one fuse in the 4g will be enough right? also would that set up be better or worse than running 2 8g power cables direct?

What exactly are you trying to do?
Are you going to be running 2 subs and 2 amps?
What are the are the makes and models of the amps and subs?
There is more then one reason an amp will run hot, the size of the amp is not necessarily on of them, too low of a load on the output is a more common problem, over-driving the amp in another, and poor power or grounds, or their connections is another.

run 2 subs and 2 amps. both are reference series one is a 10, 1042 ones a 12, 1242. i have a bazooka ba1300 and an mtx one of the older ones supposedly 300w rms x 2 at 2 ohms.
OIC...... don't be surprised if it doesnt work, trying to get sub bass out of 2 diff. sized speakers and 2 diff. amps may end up sounding worse rather then better, IMO you would be better off with one or the other, or run the 10 as a mid bass and the 12 as a sub.

My guess is not that the amp has problems more likley the sub is not wired correctly. Is the sub single or dual voice coil? If subs are wired at to low of an impedance that will cause the amp to run hotter and go into protection.
the guy at circuit city just said that they heat up quick. it is rated for 2 ohms and that is what ill be running it at, either that or 4, which it is also rated at, i haven't decided yet. also is there any way i could make something that would cool it down? like run a fan or something?

Yes you can use simple computer case fans or the make cross flow fans. Heres a link to select products website they have a few fans. click on a-z products then fans.

yes it blow air in sort of a sheet across the amps or under. Simple switch or you could have it turn on with the remote turn on wire from the deck. Use a relay and connect as follows:
85 - Ground
86 - remote wire(+)
30 - 12volts
87 - (+) out to fans
