My newly painted valve cover
Just painted my valve cover and thought i would post up some pics of it. And yes is till have to sand the paint off the letters. All coments welcome
For the people asking about the block and how i painted my valve cover.
The block was painted with charcol metalic spray paint. Thats right, spray paint. No high temp paint. Iv painted many blocks and valve covers with regular spray paint and havnt had one crack, chip, or peel off.
As far as the valve cover goes:
1. Remove the old paint with aircraft remover(may have to do it more than once)
2. I used a grinder to grind off the letters(be carefull not to dig into the valve cover)
3. Using 240 grit sand paper and a block sand over were the letters use to be.
4. repeat step 3 with 600 grit(takes out all the little scratches)
5. Wash the valve cover with soap and water, make sure u scrub all the greas and **** off. When u get dont washing the cover be sure NOT to touch were u will be painting. If u leave grease or oil on the valve cover it will casue major Fics Eye.
6. After the cover has dried off begine with a light coat, let it dry for ahwile, then put on several hard coats.
I put around 7-9 coats of paint on my valve cover.
I used Daytona Yellow high temp paint.
