Default 98 civic Engine cleaning

I know there's a write up on cleaning the engine but im scared about seizing my engine up or ruining something because of water... I have simple green and plan on spraying my entire engine bay off but I've heard some stories of them screwing up Is the 98 civic engine mainly water proof because I will be using a water hose and not a high pressure water blaster

i always use simple green and a high pressure washer here at home. never had any problems. if your scared to do it dont spray water directly on the alt., battery, or dizzy and your good to go

What i did was go to those do it yourself carwash and just put a plastic bag around your intake filter and dizzy. then i would spray the whole engine bay with degreaser then just sparey the rest with the high pressure wash.. I had never had a problem
