Anyone have the Mugen N1 ECU????
i believe it kicks in at 4600 and redlines at 9100. Last time i dynoed at Area 51, i put in the Mugen ECU just for kicks cuz EP let me try it out and it made good progress in the midrange even though my car is stock. Very good upgrade if you are gonna track your car.

This is specially mapped to the fuel mixture, ignition timing, and combustion. The rev limit is increased to 9,100 rpm from the normal 8,400 rpm, and the VTEC valve timing changeover point is lowered to 4,700 rpm from the normal 5,300 rpm. It is highly recommended that reinforced valve springs be fitted if this E.C.U. is used.
tj,
Do you mean "stock", as in zero upgrades? Nothing at all? Let me know... I'm very interested in the N1 myself And did you use the wire harness for it also?

Cool, thanks guys...my friend had one laying around..so i decided to borrow it while he is in Japan...i was just wondering cause my VAFC is still in my car and i didnt know where the vtec was supposed to be... but we are going to re-tune my car with that computer and see if i can gain more power with the higher rev limit...so ill hope to see you all at the track at the end of the month!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have had few conversations with Bob @ King regarding the ECU. The Mugen ecu is great if you do not plan on running cams at all. They have tryed the ecu with different cams and it just didn't perform well so its not recommended.

TypeRforwhenIB18 has one in his car, but its not running right cause its not tuned yet. I had no idea the ECU could do anything for stock motors....
also, on a Type R, are valve springs necessary? since EP proved the Mugen springs were just ITR springs?

I have the N1 ECU. With stock cams I was able to get just under 190 whp SAE. It works well with a straight pipe and your powerband is a small bit bigger. Vtec engages earlier. I bought it used from a guy in Oregon.

yeah, id recommend some dyno tuning if coupled with a vafc and high output motor, but other than that it is a nice ecu
