Default car idles high

Hi guys, I just recently acquired a 1991 crx with a ls/vtec swap. The car has a high idle for some odd reason, i've tried to contact the previouse owner to inquire about the issue at hand but have had no luck. Anyways the car runs fine and vtec engages beautifully.....but for some odd reason the car idles at around 1200-1300 rpms. any ideas on how to fix this would be great thanks before hand for any help possible thanks.

maybe tps vacumm leak or intake mani/throttle body gasket. or intake mani/head gasket. those are the easiest attempts to fix it.

Also make sure the accerator cable has slack
ie:not over tightened

Check the ignition timing to make sure it is not over-advanced.

make sure you have no vacuum leaks - check all the hoses to make sure none are cracked or split and that they are secure - make sure you don't have vacuum leak between throttle body and intake manifold or between intake manifold and head - check PCV valve

Hey, I just recently had this problem with my '88. I got it checked out and it turned out to be two problems. If your "check engine light" is on constantly then you most likely have the same problems I had.

You might need to replace the throttle body. I suggest going to a junkyard to pickup a pulled one. Roughly $50 used.

Have the coolant temperature sensor be checked, it's best to get this replaced on "older" cars if you don't know when it was last checked.

Have a shop (or a really handy friend) check for leaks from the throttle body.

These are what I've found to be very helpful... and always good to checkup on anyway.
