Default 91 CRX HF slight rod knock?

i just got a 91 crx hf. the tranny is blown and i got another one to put in. however i noticed today when i cranked it that there was a light knock. im pretty sure its coming from the motor and not the tranny. what do i need to do to fix this. new bearings?

very likely your case if it's from the motor. for the price of bearings though, a couple more bucks and you could get a si motor, 20-30 more hp and no screwing around w/ innards.

yeah, i would suggest looking for an si motor, hf motors arent really worth going to all that hassle

well im gonna have a LS/vtec in there in a few months, but i need this. i figure if im going to be changing the tranny, isnt gonna be much more touble, i could just pull the whole motor out and do it all at one time.

If it is indeed the bearings then crank will have to spend some time at a machine shop..And is it really worth it to rebuild a motor like that,,that wont even be used soon?? Just buy another sohc motor..There so cheap now days

Spun bearings usually come from either over revving the engine..Or not enough lubrication..
