need some help..everybody please read. i'm screwed...
Well… in my other post I’m having a problem with that transmission blinking D4 crap and I’m over warranty -at 130k miles-. it's a 2000 accord Lx sedan (4 cyclinder)
I know this isn’t the place to ask this because it is illegal (I think) but I’m freaking broke as it is and I have no other car to drive except my project which is hardly up and running. i was planning to keep this car in the garage until the accord died (which was sooner than i thought) I just paid a year worth of insurance on my accord ($3000) and this recently just happened. Man, I don’t know what to do except roll back my mileage to about 99Ks or try to find a cluster with under 100k but it's digital so i'm not even sure that will work. help...

trying to screw honda is bad. there are lots of us with legitimate trans problems and who are not even covered. They can get the milage because they have access to the ecu on the car........
How far out of warranty are you? Honda may pickup part or all of the tab

they may know that the ecu was changed if they bur the VIN into it. (most car companies do this)
the only thing you need to change is the cluster! don't change the ECU there's no need.
get a low milage junkyard cluster and swap it in. whamo, less miles. be aware tho if you've taken the car to honda for service they know how many miles the car had on it last time you were there. if it mysteriously has less miles there's going to know what you did.

Ditto. Then take some time and work on doing an auto to manual transmission swap. Voila! No more automatic transmission problems!

Get autozone to read the codes for you. And stop trying to do something underhanded. If you don't want to get the codes, and try to fix it yourself. Explain your situation the service people. They might be able to help you out.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO IS TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND SEE IF THEY WILL GOODWILL THE TRANS. THEY MAY PICK UP THE PRICE OF THE PART BUT YOU WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE LABOR. IAM A HONDA TECH AND HAVE SEEN THEM GOOD WILL ALOT OF TRANS TO PEOPLE.. THAT WERE IN NEED!!!!
nevermind... it was my solenoids. cleaned them out and it's till up and running pretty well. even better than before. but the thing is, my transmission is still going. i can feel it slipping... last year for this car.
Two things might screw both you and your scheme to defraud Honda, so I'd suggest you do some research b4 your stick your neck in the proverbial noose.
Carfax: Records accruing mileage thru the vehicle's history. They receive their info thru DMV, Dealer and some independent Quick-Lube outlets reports mileages.
The vehicles ECM (I believe) records events (and I suspect mileage as well) for accident / claim / insurance review; much like an Aircraft's Black Box. Gm's ECM's have had this capability since the inception of OBD2 systems.
If you think your dealer's not going to interrogate the ECM, go ahead.
I'm just giving you a "Heads UP"!!!

If I were you I would see about taking a class at a local community college for automatic transmissions. You should find knowledgeable instructors that can help you either recond. the tranny you have or help you doing a swap to a manual (as was earlier suggested). I would also call up the insurance company and have them drop the insurance on the car... perhaps buy a $500 clunker and have them add it at the same time and then you can drive that while you work on that car. It is a honda with under 150k... no way I would give up on it that easy... In the meantime, shop eBay for the factory service manual for your specific year.
It's amazing how some people think that dealer technicians were born yesterday. I love nothing more than popping the bubbles of theese people when they try to fool me with this kind of stuff.
Sorry I had a soapbox moment there...

i've done an engine swap and an automatic/manual conversion on my del sol... i don't want to do it to this accord. i'm not going to take it to honda... i know they're not going to fall for it because of my previous trip there 2 years ago. and my insurance (AAA) said that cannot reimburst me fully for the amount ( i don't know why). it's all gravy...
