transmisson problems!!!! please help!!
Well i have a 95 gsr motor in my hatch and all the transmisson components are giving me problems. The problems i am having are the clutch pedal feels much firmer then stock, when i hold in the clutch pedal while it is in gear it feels like the car wants to die out like im not holding the pedal in. Just recentely while in first it has died out even though the pedal is all the way down. The last problem is that the shifter does not go in smoothly i have to force it to go into first while at a complete stop and while driving second and third do not go in smooth either and the tend to grind some times. I cant figure out what the problem is soo any input would be appericated. thanks for the help.
hmm... do you have a stock gsr tranny?... the reason you might have problems going into gear not smooth might be the sycros are gone. check the pressure plate aswell.
Check the movement of the slave cylinder at the transmission. Is it moving when you press the clutch in? if so how much? Is the slave or master cylinder leaking? The master cylinder will have fluid inside the car at the clutch pedal actuating rod. The slave will leak at the boot on the side of the transmission. Is there fluild in the system? Sounds like the clutch is not being fully released when the pedal is pushed down. If all that checks out then its time to pull the transmission and find out if its pressure plate, clutch disk.

when is the last time you replaced the clutch? If your master cylinder or slave is not leaking then you are probably running out of clutch material or the springs in the clutch disc are coming loose causing a binding!! Good luck!!
throw out bearing or pressure plate. your clutch assembly is not fully releasing the clutch disc from the flywheel. whirling noises are a result of a bad throwout bearing. my guess is the throw out bearing. If you have problems shifting to 4th then its a tranny problem.
a nother problem is that the clutch pedel gets stuck when i release it. there is like a lag for it to come all the way up when it is released.
i fixed the pedal sticking. soo should i just replace the cluth then. since it might be the pressusre plate. the clutch plate. or the sycros. when i take my tranny apart how am i goin to know what is bad and not.
Clutch master cylinder or pressure plate would be my guesses.
Have you checked the clutch fluid yet? It's located at the driverside firewall in the smaller resevoir. It takes DOT3 brake fluid if you have some. But you haven't answered if you checked this yet.
I need to get around to doing my master cylinder here soon. My leaks like a.... well... .you know.

cyncros are more than likely bad.... but the way it sounds about wanting to die while clutch is in... it sounds like u need to adjust ur clutch cuz the way it sounds its not disengaging... soo adjust ur clutch... but u might not have a bad cyncros cuz while shifting if u clutch is not disengaging than it will grinde or have to force in...
Not sure exactly how you adjust the clutch.... but more than likely... you'll find that it's adjusted all the way anyhow. Man, that would be a bitch to buy an all new clutch setup...
A friend with an ITR was having problem getting his into gear while pretty much sitting still. Once you got moving it would go in fine though. Turned out it ended up being his master cylinder, even though it wasn't leaking any.
If I were you, I'd probably hit up a junkyard for a clutch MC and replace it just to check it. They're probably $120 or so from Honda. Not sure. But I'm sure it wouldn't cost half that from a junkyard.

well i just changed my master cylinder and the problem is still there. the transmission is still acting the same way wanting to die. soo tommorw ima go and change ths slave clyinder and if that dosent work shold i just go and buy a new clutch?
Still having problems even after the master cylinder, huh? That sucks. I highly doubt it will be the slave cylinder. But, not saying you can't try it if you feel the need.
I'm gonna say that possibly the pressure plate for the clutch is bad. Or maybe the bolts on the PP are even starting to back out.

well i changed the slave cylinder and still the same problem. so then i am guessing it is the pressure plate. should i just change the pressure plate or shouold i go ahead and buy a whoole new clutch to be safe?
