hello all here is my situation hope you can help i have had my civic for 11 years all of a sudden now whenever i shift gears or tap the break my clock headlights and radio flicker and if i happen to be at a stop light during the day and i turn on the headlights the car will die but allways starts right back up with no problem i have replaced the battery and the alternator the honda dealer said my stereo was causing the problem i thought that was kind of weird but i went ahead and replaced it anyway same problem and it doesnt allways happen and sometimes after it dies and i restart it it goes away for a little bit can somebody please help while i still have some hair left to pull out lol thanks oh yea if it helps the car has a 1.6l vtec with 138k on it

 

check around the fuse box under the hood. you probably have a weak power or ground connection.

 

Make sure that your Charge cable is tight on the alternator. also where did you buy the alternator and the battery?

 

I have checked all the grounds under the hood i even replaced the battery terminals all the fuses look fine and all the connections to the alternator are fine what next?

 

all the cables on the alternator appear to be tight and i bought the battery at pep boys and the alternator at auto zone

 

When i had my crx my car was doing that also, but it was because my battery was a piece of **** and wouldnt hold a charge so therefore it always went dead. But in your case, check all the grounds and make sure everything is tight.

 

ive bought several faulty alternators from autozone.

 

how can i make sure the alternator is good i have disconected the battery while the car was running and it didnt stall? and its hit or miss like i didnt do it all day yesterday i have also put a meeter on the batery when it was happening and the voltage was good and didnt drop when lights were turned on or brake was tapped i am stummped any more ideas? thanks
