Default car wont rev past 5k

im currently in the tuning process of my turbo D. i've been having strange problems with the car it wont rev past 5k. it can go up to more than 5000rpm but no power. and its as if the ignition is loosing spark. im running ngk BKR7's new ones, stock ignition and AEM EMS. tried replacing the wires today and still no change.

heres some more details of the set up:
D16y8
ported head
450cc DSM's
10w 10ohm resistors
bosch in line pump
aem ems 30-1000 ecu
t3t4 on 7psi
aeromotive fuel reg
FJO wideband

my friend who is tuning says its probably mechanical and not the tuning. i just want to get some insights on this before i start working on the car again later.

up.

still having the same issues cam timing is at stock. changed the ecu last night to a hondata and still the same problems. tuner said it could be bent valves. gonna do a compression test later. anymore suggestions? fuel pressure is more than enough but just wont make power past 5000rpm

i'm havin the same problem with my turbo'd B18, wen i check the code i keep gettin code 8 (TDC/CRANK/CYL SENSOR) I ran sum checks and everyting turned out ok so far with my wiring to the distributor, so i'm tryin to get another distributor to check( I have no faith in mine since it shows signs that it was tampered with), ne one else havin the same prob pls give us an idea of ur findings.

if it wont rev past 5 grand it is often a crank position sensor porblem in the distributor

if it's the igniter, wat igniter from another vehicle can work, and wat do u tink the best ting to do is, replace the whole assembly or go into it and try to solve the problem ? the car also backfires when it hits the 5K mark. I really nd to get this fixed. My car also gives me a hard start when hot, and a slight miss when cold, if i blip the throttle 3-4 times the miss clears up, i'm wondring if it could be my injectors since they were sittin there for a while before i put them on, and i don't know how long befor i got them they were cleaned.

do a log in the ems of the car breaking up. log statsync, cam crank, etc.. to watch the distributor incoming signals. also log timing errors.

how do i log this info since i'm usin my stock ecu, all that was done was the chippin of my uce to handle bigger injectors. if it's the crank a ngle sensor, how can this be changed and wat other honda crank angle sensor can work in my distributor ?

It's a little pricy, but i say try a new coil. I had this same problem with my Turbo GSR while i was on the dyno trying 2 get it tuned. itd hit around the same rpm and wouldnt go into any higher rpms b/c it was missing so bad. I tried replacing plugs, wires, even bought a new coil(which came out 2 be defective). I never thought it would have been the coil, but Jason Hunt took and put in another coil from a dizzy he had and after replacing it, all my problems were gone. and still working great!

try swapping to a known good dizzy from another car, just to check.

i was having a pretty-much identical problem. i swapped another dizzy on, and it went away. it wasnt the coil, it was something else. most likely the cyl. pos. sensor or ignitor failing slowly, getting less accurate. after datalogging it, we would just record unburned fuel sparatically about 5k-ish. it was very odd. i swapped the coil, cap, rotor, fuel filter, wires, plugs....it wasnt any of them. i still dont know what it was.....but my spare dizzy (that was a known-working one) fixed it. REALLY made the car faster too....nothing like loosing your whole upper powerband.
