Default first mod on new si :)

well i gotta make this quick i gotta go..but i modded the intake box and man what a difference..love the sound too check it out..haha the old zip tie trick..i was thinking about removing teh bottom portion by cutting it off with a heat gun which i may cause it will work great, look, stock and sound awesome not to mention the power...

that is with the stock filter and u definatly feel the torque pick up...so talk about cheap mods? there u go..now when it rains just throw the box back on whcih i must say was alot easier then removing the rsx intake box...was very very simple..

Did you buy that car or did your parents?

Do us a favor and don't ruin a perfectly good 20k car with zip ties. Buy a AEM.

he removed the lower portion and zip tied the filter to the top portion of the box.

so you basically have a SRI of sorts.

and no im not your ricer. It works great and im already buying the aem but i sort of want to wait for a V2. Next week my Tein springs will be ready to ship and if i get a cai then that will too. And no haha..i put 14500 down of my own money and failed to be qualified so my step dad wrote a check, then charges me intrest and more intrest then a lender which sucks but ohwell i respect him for doing it cause he uses this stuff to make money. What can i say i understand hes a buisness man too. So im gonna drop my tax return down and get a loan for the rest and its all me. But no i still pay for my own cars. ive owned 8 cars and never lost nothing.

And ruin this car with zip ties? maybe we dont all have money to turbo our civics so we use what we got till new parts hit the floor and we can buy them. As for this mod, i can think of a few more to pick up HP that wont cost me basicly anything. like for instance cooling the engine bay and smoothing the motor out. As in remove the weather striping by the window to creat a cowl. Or if you didnt know stock these Si's come with ducts to run to your brakes from factory so i can run those right to my intake. When i get some more miles i can spend 50 bucks on some royal purple racing oil and pick up a good 5whp alone there. After you own alof of cars and do swaps(my b20 DA, Ls crx, b16 crx and now gsr crx) you lear alot of little tricks to pick up that extra umph..so please, im just showing what i did so dont come ruin it. and im not stupid, i can just throw the bottom piece on in 5 min when its raining. Also for a clean mod i can cut the bottom out with the heat gun like i said..

sides, AEM intakes may be great, but who can afford em anymore? I see em for like over 300$. For an intake. A hollow pipe. I wouldnt spend 300$ on a downpipe let alone a intake (my SRI was 35$ with filter, thanks ebay.)

I can't afford another 20k car that is why I mod a 2k Civic instead. And for a car brand new under warranty that you can't afford to mod properly, how are you going to afford to fix any problems that may occur when Honda rejects a warranty claim because of your hack jobs?

You put $14,500 down in cash and couldn't get credit? You must be like 18 or something.

And I agree, while it is your car, hacking up a brand new car is just dumb. Leave it stock until you can get a real intake and keep the oem parts pristine.

You know how to save?

Why would you dump more than 14K in a depreciating asset and not only lose out on the investment oportunities but pay interest on the remaining balance as well?

From the sounds of your money management and mod'ing principles I can already tell you ---- learn patience

You wiped out your cash reserves most likely for a car with higher insurance premiums than you pay now and stand to lose money on it every month --- you sound like a confused Dave Ramsey fanatic who lost his way

If your living off the CASH principle than stick to it --- you couldnt, and now you owe your boy the balance of the car and have to suck up higher premiums while paying him a higher interest rate

Meanwhile you could have waited a year or two, invested your money and paid cash on a slightly used example while incurring a lower ins premium and paid no finance charges whatsoever

Dont lecture people about the CASH principle if its still fuzzy for you mmmK

fuzzy for me? hmm let me see..if i went throug all 8 cars ive owned and only being 20 years old i think ive managed very well. ive made money on almost all my cars but never lost. i bought a car from a dealer and still made 500 on it. made 900 on my b20 integra, made 3000 on my malibu, made 1000 on my rsx OFF A DEALER, broke even on my 1st crx, and when i sold that b20 integra i also made money back on my 2nd crx. and the crx i have no ive spent 12k on including the price i paid and new paint which hasnt been added to the car yet. now everything ive sold off that crx ive spent under 6000..now a 1991 crx si with pretty much flawless interior, and with these mods:

ITR header, custom catback, intake, skunk 2 intake mani, all gaskets, lcon traction bars, omni power full coil/strut suspension, gsr swap, hasport mounts and hydro tanny set-up, hasport shift linkage, jdm crx sir front end conversion, team dynamic 15in wheels with new tires, 12.2 willwood kit up front and custom 11in VW corado brakes in rear, walbro 195lph fuel pump, exedy stage one clutch and 9.5lb flywheel, nrg quick realease steering wheel with momo hub, short shifter, full energy suspension kit, new paint job, custom obd1 wire harness plug and play, jun chipped ecu, and every 10mm bolt u can think of.(oh i keep every receipt.) and still under 6k after i sold all the other parts. now tell me i dont know what im doing? i will always make my money back on this car...ive already paid for everything just waiting on my swap to be delivered to the shop and its go time. now as for my Si its less insurance then my rsx. now i understand it will depreciate in value cause every new car does. but as its been said in the magazines this honda will hold its value like no other honda. So, bad investing for such a young man? i think not...oh here dont believe my crx? this is just incase u try to call me on that one too. so please, dont give me your crap..

before i took the b16 swap which i sold for $2000 by the way

you are dumb. all rsx filters are cylinder shapped and it has a hole in the middle, that's how it mounts onto the stock airbox. i doubt that you own an rsx, if you did, you would know this. How do i know this? Cause my friend owns an 02 rsx and i've seen his airbox opened and closed. And how do you get better gas mileage when the bottom of the airbox is opened? Your letting hot air in.

Youre not increasing air flow any by doing that, all youre doing is making noise and sucking in hot air because the air isnt flowing through any factory resonators. for a mod that doesnt really help any.

BTW, is that a MAF sensor?? If so, its proabably freaking out cause the air coming in is probably turbulent and hot. Do your car a favor, put the box back on and dont make your si ghetto.

8 cars and only 20 years old?? WOW!!!! Im 21 and this is my 3rd car. 1 honda, 1 nissan, now my VW.

BTW a car is the worst investment ever. Doesnt matter how well it retains value.

You are 16. Until you grow pubes, your opinion is not valid.

Seriously, half-*** mods have no place on a new car. It's idiotic, and it'll make things break.
