Default D16A9 ENGINE! Worth Keeping OR B Series SWAP

HI!!! I am from the UK (Europe) Need US expert help!!!!!!

I have a D16A9 CRX, which has a cool 130bhp standard!!!! I have bought all these parts(Not all fitted yet):-

Big Bore Throttle Body
FSE Power Boost Valve
Magencor Racing leads HT
NGK Spark Plugs
Repacement ECU 7400rpm peak power 8000rpm Rev limiter(does this need remapped?) was 6700 and 7300!!!!
DC Sports 4-2-1 Manifold
Mongoose Full System non Cat
Cold Air Intake - DC

I would hope to be 180bp+ from my mods? Anyone agree???? I have spent a lot of money on these parts!!

OR would I be better selling the D series and starting again with a b16 block and b18 head as one is going cheap at a local garage?????????

The FSE Power boost valve replaces the fuel regulator . +by 1.7x!!! !!!!!! With the mods undertaken why not 180+!!!!!!!!!

Please don't say my mates' b16 is dyno'ed at 170 + because mine would keep up just ask him!!!!!!

I'm sorry but with all those mods your lucky if you have 125WHP (roughly 160 brute). Do the mods and dyno it.

Oh ya, get some freedom mods, like a lighter flywheel, better clutch, light rims. All those help free up power by not making the engine work as much to turn over.

Clutch+flywheel combo makes miracles to accelerating.

But with those mods, i think you will see 140hp from the engine. Maybe a little more, but no way over 180hp.

Start looking for camshafts, cam gears and head job. Then tune up with somebody who knows what he is doing. And you will find nicer results.

Dont put an FSE valve in.

Waste of money, and have seen bad things.

In Japanese Performance (UK Mag), A 16v Crx has the same mods and there is a dyno of 185bhp, not sure if at wheels or flywheel, and I wouldn't think a Magazine would Stretch the truth!!!!

Not wanting to start an argument, as I asked for advice, just saying what I heard!!

Cyclonium: What bad things have you heard about FSE's as I have not fitted yet?

cheers

Oh my god, I suppose the last man, or sorry guy was American for being so arrogant??????????? Yeah!!!! I'm so funny!!!!!Just Like Him! I challenge him to a race if stock 0-100mph in 20.7secs, or is a top spec si 105bhp!!!! Oh DEAR!!!!! Sorry!!!!!

Shall I just repeat the facts? I think so:- Yeah!!!!!!!!

1. Big Bore Throttle Body - 8-10bhp (quoting polarbeartuning)
2.FSE Power Boost Valve (Increases fueling pressure by 1.7x - hence 5bhp+)
3. Magencor Racing Plugs 8.5mm
4. NGK Spark Plugs
5.New ECU - Peak power 7400rpm and rev limiter 8000rpm!! (5-10bhp)
6. DC Sports 4-2-1 Manifold (10-15+bhp in the cat.)
7. Full Mongoose Exhaust/Scorpion Exhaust (UK Non-cat) - 10+bhp
8.DC Sports Cold Air Intake -5+ bhp!
9. And Now Piper Racing Cams - 10bhp+

And so the MAX is 195bhp and min 173bhp, so where is this 140bhp coming from?????????? Yes 140bhp if I had a US si D series 1.5, but it is just a little bit special!!! Yeah

Fixed it for you.

Most of the people here are talking about WHP (Horsepower measured at the wheels. ie: how much power the car actually puts to the ground). You keep talking about BHP. Your motor may make 130 BHP stock, but strap that same car to a dyno, and it will NOT be putting 130 to the wheels.

I'm sure your car is quick and fun to drive, but you need to understand where you are getting confused in this discussion before you start getting angry at people giving you a rough estimate of what your car is making in WHP.

Wouldnt the US si D series 1.5 be a 1.6?
