Default timing belt

how do i losen my timing belt to get it back on my cam gears? do i need some kind of tool to compress the cylinder?

i doubt you are going to compress the cylinders. if you can good luck and let me know how. if you are trying to set time then that's a different story. to get the timing belt back on, you will have to release the tension on the tensioner, install belt, retesion the tensioner.

buy a manual, it will explain the process better than i did.

My teacher said when we do mine in class next week, we're going to tie up the gears so when we remove the cams, the gears stay in place and the belt doesn't move so we don't risk having any timing issues
