Default San Diego - S2000 needed for roll bar and roll cage kit fitment. Posted by safedrives.com

Hi All,

Autopower Industries, a reputable roll bar and roll cage kit manufacturer in San Diego California, needs use of your S2000 for roll bar and roll cage kit fitment.

Autopower will need your S2000 for one week. In exchange for the use of your S2000 Autopower will give you the roll bar or roll cage of your choice for half of the normal retail cost.

Example: A race roll bar that generally sells for $329.95 would be yours for just $165.

Race Roll bar kit pictured with options.

You would drop your car off at Autopower on a Monday morning and pick it up on Friday afternoon.

Please feel free to contact me or Autopower directly with any questions or to schedule an appointment.

I'm getting my bar from a shop that doesn't require me to turn in my car.

how is the cage / rollbar getting mounted to your car if you don't have to drop the car off? are the rollbar gnomes going to show up at night at your house and install it for you while you sleep?

This is not fishy my friend. Autopower has been in bussiness for over 30 years. My company has been offering autopower products on honda-tech.com for almost a year now. This is legit.

Autopower will use the S2000 to engineer a jig that will allow them to create roll bar and roll cage kits for future S2000 owners.

I get a call or email at least once a month by a S2000 owner that wants a roll bar.

Thanks again to all of the S2000 owners that are checking out this thread.

Make it free, and you probably will get a bite...

Seriously, half price!! wow...

You want to "rent" someone's S for $165 for 5 days... That's 33 bucks a day. About what you would rent a POS cavalier for...

You are going to MAKE MONEY by having the design done... The least you can do is hook someone up with a FREE rollcage... LOL.

on a serious note... half price of a piece that only costs $330 is not worth it in the world of s2000's.... if we drove a civic and we were still in highschool it would be a steal......

make it free and it would be somewhat worthwhile..

Well if a person was getting ready to do a custom roll bar or buy the Cusco/Stand 21 roll bar then this would / could be steal. Plus your really helping out the S2K crowd. Have you searched S2KI lately for "roll bar"?

BTW, all Autopower products are built to the letter of the SCCA rulebook.

Thanks again for your consideration!

cusco roll bars are junk...

you can pick up a used elda roll bar.. or have cody from lovefab fabricate one for you thats already done on his car...not to mention local performance shops that are willing to make a one off roll bar for your car...

(like previously stated by someone else).. "You are going to MAKE MONEY by having the design done... The least you can do is hook someone up with a FREE rollcage"... (without that person you won't have a roll bar for the S and you won't be making extra money)

No, I weld it in myself. ANd yes, it follows NASA and SCCA rule books. I can't tell you who makes it, because I'd have to sell you one.

so....what was the point of your reply in this thread? everyone should take a weldiing class so they can maybe weld their own cage?

O well.... I had a full cage welded into my race s2000 for $900.00 by a local dirt track guy... he had the car almost a full month.... it was long before racing season so it didn't matter to me.

No, I didn't MAKE it, I just weld it in. It's a 4 point with dimple plates. That is pretty elementary. The bar itself is mandrel bent and TIG'd, works with the softtop.

what NASA or SCCA rulebook only requires a 4 point cage? i raced honda challenge and required 6 point with door bars..... yours doesn't have enough points or door bars??

if the top also works, how the hell do you get the latches latched with the rollcage up there? it should be right where you would normally latch.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Slideways2000 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">No, I didn't MAKE it, I just weld it in. you can see how we had to make little brackets to bolt the top on....no way to get a stock latch to work with a 4 point cage unless it magically dissappears at that corner.?

Tell the OP that. I run NASA's TT, the only requirements noted by the fabricator at tech time was that I need 3/8" bolts on the dimple plates.

I still don't get you how you make your soft top work unless it is bolted in place.

For time trials, you can run a rollbar as long as it passes the broomstick test (assuming they check).... and actually you don't even need that for the East Coast... I am pretty sure it is track dependent... i ran my stock S2000 in HPDE's with no aftermarket rollbar or cage but that was in 2002.... things may have changed since then.

They will let you run with the stock roll hoops. I opted for a 4pt to accommodate my Takatas. As far as your concern for top clearance, i can show you a picture.

^^^^^That looks about as good as I've seen for the S2k. ^^^^^

In talking with the guys at Autopower today it turns out that they have worked with the S2K in the past. They don't like it...and they did not want to make a kit for that car. Rest asured though I have talked them into looking at it again. I'll know more next week.

That's about as good as it's going to get. I have faith in the fabricator.
