Default Hey guyz, Turbo question.

Hey guys, I'm new to the whole turbo/forced induction scene and I was wondering what mani I need to use for my d16a6 block which is going to be housed with a 14g turbo (Off of starion). Is there any mani's that I can use without making a custom one that anyone is aware of? Something I can plug and play with? I'll post pictures of my turbo below (junkyard turbo that is! lol)

If any info is provided, I would be most appreciative of the advice! Thankyou guys in advance.

I thought starion turbos suck and ran out of breath quickly? Might be able to just get an adapter plate and use a HF/STD manifold.

That works well for a low budget turbo setup. Which is something I plan on doing.

ALSO, get a 1g dsm bov. I hope you got the (2.2L?) starion fmic too.

Yeah man get an hf manifold with an adapter plate..Maybe do some porting with a dremel also

And the 14g turbo is pretty good, flows more then the 14b turbo..It might suck for dohc vtec motors but for a d16a6 it would be perfect..14g has been proven to make more then 325hp..

Wow I feel the love of honda-tech. So hf mani with adapter plate it is. Anyone know where I can grab an hf mani?

Mach69, if you don't mind me asking, how much would it cost for the plate? Oh, and how much do the mani's go for? Sorry for such noobish questions guys.

Specs on 14g turbo... When I found the turbo at the junkyard it was from a fresh starion. The owner previously had the turbo rebuilt with 16g blades put in it. I had a couple of starion owners look at it for verification. So hopefully it runs as good as it looks.

As for the intercooler, I was able to grab a starion fmic, but I was able to grab a 3inch thick side/top mount 95 Turbo Thunderbird intercooler. =P I'll take pictures of it. It isn't long, but its thick. And its black! The sleeper look. It was exactly what I was looking for. Hopefully that intercooler will be okay. Any input on this?

As for my emissions, what ems/ecu would be advised for my turbo maps/tuning? Thanks guys once again.

use a hf mani and get an adapter plate then for your turbo if your looking to save some money just get a t25 just make sure it dosnt have any shaft play you could most likly trade your turbo for a t25 and get some money on top use dsm 450cc injectors as for the charge pipes you can buy the bends and go to your local exhaust shop and they will help you out for cheaper set ups use a internal wastegate use hondata for your tuning it works good and is cheap there is a guy here running close to the same setup and he is running a p28 tuned with hondata you can also pick up a dsm bov for like 10-15 bucks

You can probably find the hf manifold at a junkyard for 15-25 bux is all that should cost. As far as the adapter, I would expect 70-100 bux for one.

50 dollars? That's pretty damn good. As for the hf/std mani's. Which one is better? And what is the difference between the two? What cars have these manifolds?

If you think this is good help, try the love of homemadeturbo.com They can tell you just about anything you need to know about HF manifold set ups, and starion turbos

Those bmc adapter plates look good! Thanks for lookin out. I'm thinking of selling my turbo to a friend and buy a garret t3 standard. Bigger turbo, and the adapter plate is only 45 dollars!

Anyways, question about the charge pipes/intake pipes. Does anyone know a not so costly place to purchase pipes (u bends/ 45 degree angled bends/ etc) for cheap? [So I can customize.]

Thanks guyz once again!

at homemadeturbo there was a guy that found old aftermarket intakes in a dumpster and then got the rest of the pipes he needed at home depot
