Default Omni Power Valves? Worth it? or leave it stock and port n polish?

Im working on my next build I plan on buying omni-power Ti Retainers and Dual Springs. I am considering using their valves as well but im wondering if its worth the cost?

They use a 2 piece design and the stem thins near the valve face for increas3ed airflow. Im worried this thinning would weaken the valve and cause it to potentially drop (like my last valves did)

Would I be better off running Ti retainers, dual springs, and omin valves, or just Ti + dual springs? Or is the stock valvetrain good enough as is since i only plan on revving to 8.6krpms and the money would be better spent on p&p?

Thanks

plus im assuming having the stock valves removed and these installed would be a pretty hefty cost in itself right?

yeaaaa think ill skip that.

What about the springs and retainers? DO their benefits outweigh those of a pnp or is it apples and oranges?

springs can actually slow the motor down because of the force it takes to compress them, the only thing they really help is to keep the valve from floating at higher rpms. If you are going to run bigger aftermarketcams you need the springs and retainers. If not and you p&p the head and run stock cams, itsstill a good idea to get retainers and possible springs if you are goign to rev it high

i dont plan on revving past 8600rpms, i DO plan on putting ITR cams in the b16 head.

What do you think? Woudl this warrant new springs and retainers?

itr springs and retainers would probably be ok but if you want the insurance go with the new ones

i had my whole head reworked when i put my valves and springs in. so i cant tell you if the port and polish is better by itself.

having a shop put a head together is pretty cheap, i cant remember how much it was, but i remember being suprised when i got the bill

i always thought upgraded springs and retainers where for radical cams or to increase your rev limit. so if you keeping close to the stock limit and dont have a cam i would do the port and pollish i guess. Or save a bit and do both

I've been using KMS valve springs and retainers for over 7000K miles no problems, and I rev my motor to 8700rpm on the autobahn for long hauls.

FYI when running boost you also want a stiffer valvespring to help close the valve ALSO. Valvesprings aren't justr for high lift high RPM.

^yup, the stiffer the spring the quicker the valve closes (well, as fast as cam profile permits, but you get the point)
