Just baught a crx si.. Suspension problems galore
I jsut picked up my 5th crx si. its an 89. got it cheap cause the kid hit some curbes and the susepension si damaged.
first off. the drivers from wheel was pushed back and cambered out.
I replaced the lower controll arm and radius rod.
at the alignment shop, the report came back like this
caster= good (barely in spec)
camber, 3.5 degrees positive!!!
toe is good
Passenger rear
Way too much camber.
too much negative toe. ( he adjusted it as far as it would go.
ok. I ahve been doing research and from what I understand, there is no Camber adjustability with out a camber kit. am I correct? and on the rear toe problem, What is probably bent? the trailing arm or the upper arm or both.
it sounds bad butthe car drives descent afer having the toe adjusted on all 4 corners but I feel better having everything in spec.
oh and on the front driver side, should I just replace the upper contoll arm to get my camber back where it needs to be. I know I can get camber kits but I want to replace bent parts.
thanks

sounds like you need to replace not just the trailing arms and control arms, but the subframes as well.
it can be rebuilt, but probably not worth it.

I would have to disagree with Tyson on this one. Subframes are going to be too much work. They can be in and out in under an hour.
Tyson is correct in the fact that you will probably have to do all the suspension pieces.

Agreed, sounds like way too much trouble unless you can get these parts very cheap.

the rear, rear, subframe is welded to the chassis. its not a bolt on affair.
i didnt say it was hard tho. just not worth it.

can you help me out with the corect diagram from hondaautomotive parts. Do you need to drop the steering rack to get enough clearance?
This isnt soundng like its going to be that bad. I was about to go visit a frame repair shop.

the steering rack bolts to the front, rear subframe. you can unbolt the whole subframe with the steering rack still attached.
you can see the front crossmembers under "body/ac" then "engine mount"

I dont see the number of the part I need but I see the part. it is the rear subframe. ( rear of the engine bay. You are right, it does appear to unbolt but it seems like it might be a bit a ofa challenge. I know a junk yard hear in houson that has one already off the car. thats whre I got my radius rod from.

ok....now on my drivers side rear wheel, I still have about 1* too much positive camber and .7* too much toe. I guess i need to replace the upper arm to take care of the camber and the trailing arm for the tow. Could some thing else be bent causing too much toe and camber.
and thanks for all of the help.

you are probably right... I will start assembling the parts that I need. The car actually drives pretty well but I want it to be perfect. Good thing I only paid 800 for it. These parts are pretty inexpensive as well at junkyards.
thanks again for all of the good advice.
