95 Automatic Civic Failed emissions on high NOx
Hey guys any ideas here are my results...cat was replaced less then one year ago along with the 02 sensor.
Mods- Aem Cold Air
Hp Racing Headers
I just bought the car for 1 dollar a couple weeks back mods were already on the car
HC-PPM
Alow- 147
Result- 16
CO-%
Allow-.82
Result- .01
Nox
Allow- 1072
Result- 1384
Everyhting else as you can see passed with flying colors.
Based on what the previous owner told me the only thing that hasnt been replaced recently is the plug wires. Everything else is pretty new.
I was thinking maybe running a colder plug but wasnt sure if that would help, and or I dont know which plug to get.
Thanks guys.

There was a emissions test done on 10/29 where the reading for NOx was about 1548.
Since that test I bought the car as mentioned and the only thing I have done is cleaned the K&n using the K&N recharge kit.
Aside from that I havent changed the oil, plugs, or wires.
The plugs are pretty new but I can change them again.
Would running colder plugs help you think?

Dude,
Check it out.
Carbon build up in the combustion chamber equal higher nox level.
De-Carbonization highly recommeded:
1.Use a spray can of B-12 throttle body cleaner. I believe the manaufacter is Gumout.
2.Follow directions on the sparay can. Apply the cleaner in the throttlebody with the car on idle and apply throttle to keep the motor from choking out.
3.Replace spark plugs after cleaning. You'll find the plugs black and nasty looking. If you have new plugs just take them and clean them with some carb cleaner.
From there i checked the timing
ran some b-12 cleaner fuel injector cleaner on a full tank and ran the **** out of going like 80 - 90 on the highway for about 30 min.
CLeared that tank after a week or so And filled up 1/3 premium and 2/3 regular.
My Nox blew clean at 15mph was 320 and 25mph @268.
1994 del sol si stock 220,000 miles 5 speed dumped on teins.
1991 civic hatch b16a abouts to get BAR sticker.
Check it out.

you got it.
cylinder temperatures are directly related to how high the nox are. it is usually carbon or timing. or a stuck egr but you dont have an egr.

Thanks guys I'll try a tune up this weekend, clean things up a bit...also considering retarding the timing just a tad to help. *shrug*
