How can you tell if you have an LX.EX.SI type of tranny? (I bought a tranny online, just wondering what kind of car it came out of)

 

All D series are 's20' transmission. The only way you're going to know whether it's an EX/Si, LX, DX, CX etc is by either: Knowing for sure what kind of car it came out of, or driving it and noticing the gear ratios.

 

oh, so there is know way to tell by the serial number?

Not that I'm aware of. And if there is, I've never come accross a database showing such informaiton.

S20= 92-95
S40= 96-00

near the tranny fill plug.........
A000 = small bearing case = CX/DX/HX/VX case, BAD!
B000 = large bearing case = EX/Si case, GOOD!

D16y8 trans = K4F/Pa4/B000, shortest gears
