question about my car
Okay, i have a 92 civic hatchback. i recently just did a b16 swap, and i have a P61 ECU (GSR), msd ignition, fluidyne radiator, headers, aem cam gears, and a walbro fuel pump hooked up to a fuel pressure gauge. My car starts up fine, but sometimes when i hit the throttle, i lose power (rpm goes down and it seems as though my engine wants to cut off, but it doesn't), i let up off the throttle and it goes back to normal idle. I do have a check engine light for the throttle position sensor. But i don't know what the heck is going on????I need help please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hey, thanks for the reply. COuld the TPS throw my ecu off or something. When i press the gas slowly, i mean slowly, it revs and powers up. it just when i press it instantoues(as if i was come out of first) it loses power. i talked to some autozone folks, and they said it could be my fuel filter??!!

it could be your tps. it could also have to do with your fuel pump. When you slam on the gas, your injectors dump a bunch of fuel in the cylinder before it has time to suck up enough air for that amount of fuel. If you are running rich to begin with (because of your fuel pump), then when you go WOT, you are dumping so much fuel in that it bogs the motor. your tps would play into this some too (that's how your ecu knows how far down your gas pedal is).
If your motor internals are stock, you really don't need an aftermarket fuel pump (I know this from experience).

it has done this problem before i put the new fuel pump in (i know it was rich before because black **** was coming out the exhaust), i sincerly think it's the TPS sensor. i got my fuel pressure gauge hooked up, it reads 20psi at idle, then 25-30 PSI on the gas.

Was it running fine after the swap or this is a new symptom. If it has done it all along, then the TPS may be wired backwards. When you hit the throttle the ECU thinks the throttle is closing rather than opening. See if you have the proper voltages at the TPS (0.5 VDC at Idle and 4.5 at WOT (wide open throttle)).
