Default Distributor problems... I think.

Alright so heres the story. My buddy has a 00 Civic EX with a JDM GSR motor in it. He just bought a brand new distributor because his other one burnt out. Well, his tach on his cluster wasnt working so he took a wire from the negative terminal on the coil and ran it to the back of the cluster to the tach wire. He tried starting the car and the car wouldnt start, just turn over. After that he totally took the wire off the coil and put everything back to stock form and the car still wont start. I was thinking since he ran a 12V hot wire to the negative side of the coil he burnt the coil out. I changed the coil out from another distributor and that didnt do him no good. Any suggestions because I'm stumped. I basically rebuilt the entire distributor for him, swapping parts from another known working distributor, and the ******* thing still isnt firing.

I checked for spark, nothing. I dont think buses would cause this problem. I checked the under the hood fuses because those are the fuses that would affect spark. Blown ECU fuse for sure would do it.
