Alternator or ???? on my 89 Si
k guys, my car wouldnt start today in my driveway. Like nothing was on, it wasnt even turning over. i got a boost and then it went on. then when i dropped my grandmother off it died again on me. I finally got to my work (acura) and then i decided to try to charhe the battery. I left it for a good 2 hours. Then I removed the charger and it still wouldnt start. Then i go home and get the battery out of my parts car, (i know that works cause its 2 months old) so i install it and then it didnt work??? so then i come to a conclusion that maybe its the alternator. I did that "remove the positive terminal test" and when i removed the positive terminal, the car didnt shut off. WTF???
The car is a 89 civic Si with a SOHC ZC

just did the alternator test (remove the positive terminal when the car is running, should shut off if bad alternator) It didnt shut off???
whatsup man so ur car wont start regardless of wiether or not the battery is new or old?? I am guessing that it is a five speed right?? isnt there some sort of switch or sensor that deals with the clutch being engaged so that the car will start.... i dont really think its ur alternator because in the past you would have experienced trouble with it starting and then not starting off and on.. and check all ur grounds because if one is a little loose or frayed your battery will drain itself...

The car doesnt run off the battery, it runs off the alternator.
The battery is only there to start the car...
It think it's one of these:
1. main relay
2. Ignition problem
3. Bad ground
4. Battery leads
5. your smoking too much pot.
or even a bad fuel pump
If it was your alternator, your battery light on the dash would flicker, your RPM guage needle would start to bounce, and your car will feel like dying.

Cars act funny if the battery is absent. The battery acts as a capacitor, fronting energy for all the **** in your car and compensating in the event that the alternator cannot supply it all at that moment. Like the time the positive fell off my battery while I was driving, when I sat at a stoplight at idle my CD player and dash and everything shut off, but came back to life right when I started going again.
But yea at least we know your alternator is working.
Check starter leads and stuff?
