Default autozone piping...

does anyone know if the exhaust piping at autozone is galvanized?

i heard that if you weld galvanized, the fumes can kill you..

i have welded the autozone piping before, but im about to do it again this weekend.

i believe all the piping from autozone or pepboys is galvanized
if you do weld it make sure your in a well ventilated area
and dont sit over the part when your welding it because of the fumes and you should be fine

no it is aluminized. which is ok to weld. (always need ventilization when welding however)

galvanized is like the fences at little league baseball fields...also at Lowes..

You did not say prep the first time, I'm pretty sure aluminized can also be bad if you weld it.

Either way, there's usually copper on filler rod (or wire) and if I remember right that's even worse...

Always best to be safe and have a fan circulating air around

doesnt matter when i said it...the fact is it can be welded, regardless of what steps you need to take before hand...

same as saying anything in a wrapper can be eaten...oh you must unwrap it first

But a lot of people won't grind the aluminized off when they mig weld it. It just seemed like you said aluminized piping was ok to weld on, when in fact its not. If you prep it, and grind the aluminized of then it is. But then so is galvanized piping, if you prep that, and grind the galvanized off, you basically has the same pipe as the aluminized pipe.

I just wanted to make sure you need to grind the aluminized off. And drink milk a day before hand. Just in case.
