heya, car is now throwin cel 23. I havn't been outside to check to see if it's even there, but for some reason my car runs really crappy before the cel. Like it will hesitate and if I give it a little gas the rpm's will just drop. A minute later the cel comes on, and I assume it goes into limp mode? cus then the car seems to drive fine. So, lets say there is a sensor there, i should check the wire connection and replace the sensor if possible. What id that doens't fix it? It doesn't sound like the car is knocking, could it be timing? would that cause the car to hesitate all crazy? thanks everyone. -Jeff L.
00 civic ex with stock swap.

if it is detonating, the knock will pull timing and make it run slower. the bad thing is a knock sensor is like 150 +- new from the dealer. i think i paid over 180 for mine because the sompany i got my first swap from wouldnt cover it. but listen to it and if ot sounds like 2 hammers hitting together. try higher octane or see if your t-belt has jumped.

yea doesn't seem to be detonating im 99% sure. Before i had a b18 with ctr pistons, and THAt woudl detonate. Yea i will chekc the timing belt. It's a stock d16y8 motor with p2p ecu(both bone stock)
i have the same problem. My CEL would come on running code 23. I replaced the knock sensor, still doing it. The line seems fine so now I'm just orderign a chipped p28 that eliminates the knock sensor altogether. the CEL will not come on if the motor knocks, it comes on because its malfunction or not working right, or downright ecu isnt getting a knock sensor signal altogether, thus sending your car into "limp" mode meaning pulls timing and dumping too much fuel in because your ecu don't know what to do. If you were knocking it would not send the CEL on because the knock sensor would be doing its job therefore working.

Hey BangZ, or anyone else, I have swapped my B16 into my eg and Im running the stock P30 and ECU and my CEL for the knock sensor does come on but Im not having any problems, I'll be trying to get the chipped P30 to disable the the ks but I was wondering if I will eventually start having problems or could it do damage to my car now. Thanks
Ha, I have a b16 in a eg also. I checked all wiring, ecu, and replaced the ks. still sending the light. It may seems liek nothing is wrong but your car is in limp mode whether you know it or not. I just sent payment to mtber on the board for a chipped ecu. i been running my car for a while with the cel on and raced many times. nothing is messed up as I can tell or feel and motor is fine, you just lose performance and get shitty mpg. I'm starting to believe it may be the ecu itself? who knows but just get a chipped ecu, the only real time you need a knock sensor is when you run shitty gas or boosting. So stay away from shitty gas if you get it disabled!
