Default Two problems with my hatch, one thread!

Hey everyone I have two problems with my car but before all that,

1990 Si Hatch, Dohc ZC swap.

1) Temp gauge doesnt work even after i connected the plug to the head. So engine is running off a fluidyne radiator and a FAL fan that is running from the ignition. Can't take it up to 7200 redline because of this. Goes to about 6800. How can i fix this??

2) Today i changed out the fuel filter and pumped in clean nw 91 octane with techron, took off aem short ram and replaced with stock unit. Now the motor will hesitate and it wont even rev to 6800. It will cut out at 5800 or 6k. What could be causing this?

*** One more thing, the o2 sensor is fouled out so i disconnected it. What kind of o2 sensor would i need to replace it with? Stock civic or ???

thief!

anyways, i would try checking ur gauge. I had a zc and a fluidyne and mine worked fine. i had a stock fan though, but i doubt the problem is that. as for the fuel filter, swap it back. if it goes back to normal, then see if u can exchange the new one for another one. faulty stuff does occasionally roll off the assembly line. o2 sensor? i used a bosch universal one for hondas. worked fine.

Get a manual. Lots of these problems are covered in the trouble shooting section.

hey guys, update: timing was actually off by like 3 teeth all together, i fixed that and it is dead on now. still have to get the timing gun and check it out one more time.

Still having a problem, now im running way too rich. my spark plugs got fouled out. they are dark as hell.

i put in a bosch o2 sensor and check engine light is not on anymore.

what else could be causing it to run so rich?

remember Dohc Zc, 8mm Accel wires and had to buy some crappy Denso plugs. gap is at 44.

the fumes were so strong it made my head hurt. Any help is appreciated.

gapped at 44? i had mine gapped at 35ish. mine ran perfect. when u said ur timing was off, was it retarded or advanced? im gonna guess retarded cuz u lost power.

35? i was told it had to be at 44. i'll try it anyway. Its is running really rich, it already fouled the denso's and i just put them on last night.

It wont rev past 5k, it stutters really badly too.

it was running fine until i changed the fuel filter and pumped in 91. f-ing techron! jk

Have you checked your injectors? Sounds like you may be just pushing fuel through. I would also check you fuel pump too. Also check for any leaks under the new fuel filter and around the injectors.
