Default rusted on cat. need help....please

how is that cat held on to the mid-pipe? do the bolts screw into the nuts that are welded on the cat or are they just nuts and bolts that both come off???

The bolts dont move, the nuts come off. The bolts are basicly like wheel studs (they don't come out or move). HTH

i tried to get the bolts off but they wont budge at all. i even tried to heat the nuts but it didn't work. then i heated them up again and clamped a vice grip on the nut and trust me it was tight as hell, but it just came off.

Old cats are hard to get rid of, have you tired poisoning it's food?

Sorry couldn't help it. Here's what you have to do. Spray on some PB blaster and let it sit. Then use a large wrench and a pair of dikes to brake off the bolts(there a lost cause) keep the springs and go to a auto parts place and get new bolts and washers(you may have to stack some washers to make a part). When I did mine it cost me like 6 bucks.

Soak in PB Blaster, then breaker bar.... should work. Keep trying at it.
