Default ITR engine with unchipped(virgin) P30 ecu, can anything go wrong?

I have bought a JDM P30 ecu to go onto my ITR for tuning but I was wondering if i put it on now with no tuning, will anything go wrong? I am wanting to do this because my check engine light is on code 54(Crankshaft Speed Fluctuation Sensor). From what I have read, obd1 ecus don't have that sensor, correct? So will there be any ignition or fuel problems with this ecu on my engine? I don't want to put it on there and have a problem and mess something up. Also will this help my car pass emissions with a high flow catalytic convertor? Thanks for the help.

Do you have OBDII-testing in your emissions? I think most states/counties that do emissions testing will want to hook up a computer.

In that case, you're screwed.

What engine is a P30 out of? If inector sizes are different your fuel maps will be off, probably on the lean side.

p30 is for a b16a so it should be fine. just don't go redlining it in every gear before tuning.

Well I don't think my state does this I have had a few buddies go up to the DMV and not have to go through all that.

Like B. Cruz said it's from a b16a engine, and is supposibly JDM. Why would the fuel map be off and on the lean side? I am running stock injectors.

Well, the oepn loop (WOT) map on the P30 will be specifically for the B16A. Injector sizes are the same on all B-series engines, which means it wont be drastically off, but it is not something you should put your faith in.

Closed loop, aka normal driving, should be just like it was with the ITR ECU.

Don't forget about the 8200rpm fuel cut.

I believe they came out with new emission laws. If your car is obd2 you dont need to hook it up to the fume/dyno test. They will hook it up to the access plug and check to see if any codes have recently been thrown.

I definitely hope that's not the truth around here because I have been having soo many problems with this CEL and crank speed fluctuation sensor. I have changed out the old one with a new one. Nothing seems to work and I am getting horrible gas mileage too. About 235 miles to a tank on a good day. I'm definitely not trying to go to a stealership to fix it either.

This may help you, it def. helped me w/code 54 (i passed an obd1 h22 in a 96 civic hatch obd2 plugged in w/obd2 ecu)

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1029958

"I just wanted to update that I tried this and it works! It is an easy way to disable the ckf sensor when swapping a non obd2 motor into an obd2 car. Just splice c1 to c4 at the ecu and c11 to c14(not sure if this is necessary or not but I did it) and you are ready to go."

That is specifically what you need. It worked for my H-series, I don't know if it'll work for B-Series.

p30 is from a USDM b16a3 engine from a SI Del Sol.

This has similar maps but i am not sure about obd2 since the car would be a 95.

maybe that is the chip'd part.

Did this help out with you gas mileage? Or did you not have a gas problem when the CEL was on for the CKF sensor? thanks a lot though I am defiently going to try this though.

I did it just for the CEL.

Haven't noticed gas mileage.
