Default K20 Wonders...

Im almost positive that this has been covered, I did search and couldnt find anything, so... I didnt know whether this topic was better suited for here, or tech/misc, but anyway. What are the differences in the K20Z1, from the K20A2?

Only think I can think of now is the cams. Drawing a blank other than that. ECU I guess its sorta part of the motor. Final Drive on tranny.... I know this isnt technically the motor but arg I cant think of any more.

k20a3 / k20z1 are both drive by wire. maybe you mistake it for the k20z3
cams and intake manifold are from the itr
also the mounts for the k20z1 tranny are different
the ecu is different s well.

So, just so that we are on the same page, the 05-06 Type-S's have the K20Z1 right?

I think you have a typo.

The K20Z3 (2006 Civic Si) has drive-by-wire throttle control. It's electronic.

The only other motor that has DBW is the K24 from the Acura TSX.

The K20Z1 does not have Drive-By-Wire. It has a conventional, physical throttle cable linkage.

The K20Z3 has an LSD.

Not the K20Z1.

Damn everybody is wrong in here.

02-04 RSX-S has the K20A2

05-06 RSX-S has the K20Z1

06+ Civic has K20Z3 (the only K20 with electronic drive by wire)

the question is the difference between the K20A2 and K20Z1 (02-04 RSX-S engine and 05-06 RSX-S engine)

Pretty much identical except the K20Z1(05+RSX-S) has Type R cams, Type R intake snorkel, slightly bigger throttle body, high flow cat, Type R 4.77 Final Drive, (some say ITR intake manifold also but part number is still a PRB part), different (newer, faster ECU), Type R flywheel, slightly different wiring harness, primary 02 sensor is wired differently. I also heard the K20Z1 is cast from a lighter, stronger aluminum..but not confirmed. The mounts on the transmission is lighly different and it adds a dynamic engine damper mount.

Basically its a K20A2 with a whole bunch of Type R upgraded parts.

for 05 the K20Z1 is rated at 210hp, for 06 with the new SAE standard its now rated at 201. If the K20A2 were rated the same way the 06's are, it would probably be advertise as having 192hp instead of 200.
