Default ECU codes - OBD1 - searched

I'm throwing a code and my car is jerking above 3k rpm
I'm pretty sure it's a fuel issue.

but I can't get the code.

I read the how too get the ECU code, and looked at my wires, could find it, then searched again and finally realised it's the only plug with 2 wires. in my case it was a Brown plug with a think blue wire and regular size black wire.

anyways, I put my wire in, like they said to short it out. and nothing happened. I turned my key to the ON position on the ignition, all my cluster lights turned on, and stayed on, my engine light just stays on.

I tried 3 times putting the wire in, and it's in properly

even tried putting the wire on the other end of the harness (the male side) and I saw some sparks.. to definitely wrong wires.

anyways, please help

what am I doing wrong ?

possible that the wire youre using sucks...try a prong spade connector (really, thats probably not the correct terminology)

Does it flash once really long and repeats or... just stays on?

You're sure you're in the right plug? Mine was sharing a little green sleeve thingy with another fat plug next to it.... if that helps?
Did you see there's a video in that thread as-well telling you step by step.

ya.. I have no sound on this computer, but the video is SUPER useless

first off, the dash is off, and the plug is already out

he shows you how to put a wire in 2 prongs.
ya.. that helps.

my wires are SUPER tight and it's a bitch to move em, plus it's ******* -40 outside

is there more then 1 plug that only has 2 wires ?
this is the only one I could find.

and I had to detach it from the white plug (they were attached together)

and also, I had to unplug to 2 end (female to male)

the picture/video show the wire alone, with no other end.
maybe I'm looking at the wrong wire all together.

I dont remember if the one here has images showing the connector or not...so maybe check mine out (it doesnt matter that its obd2, the process is identical)

if the light just turns on without flashing, its not jumping correctly
