Do you...

1. Tack the entire manifold together, and then complete the welds.

or

2. Weld the manifold peice by peice.

I would think that it would be easier to say weld up the collector completely, and then tack the rest of the manifold. But from the looks of some manifolds on here, I have no idea how you could tack it all, and then weld.

TIA,
Bryson

Im not really sure ,but I would guess weld the collector up seprate then tack it all up break each runner off weld ( not all the tacks) then weld all the runners together then weld the runners to the headflange and collector. Im wondering how u weld the runners to the collector it looks like a pain in the but gettin the torch to fit in between them

Ideally

Tack everything togther

Break tacks on flnage and collector if needed (we use a slip fit 99% of the time)

Weld tubes individually

Fit tubes back into fixture

Refit tubes because they tend to pull when welding

Weld tubes to head flange

Re fit tubes once more and then weld collector on (we skip the welding in this step)

It may just be my **** ME background, but I make a manufacturing process plan for each one.

i lucked out when i mig'd my ram-horn. I tacked it all together and welded it as one big piece. Didnt have to break the tacks on the collector or flange but I was prepared to
