Oh man it's so dumb. I saw lots of those at NOPI last year, most were poorly done. It's basically just a couple of hinges from a hardware store. You unbolt the trunk lid from the trunk hinges and attach the new hinges between the lid and the trunk hinges. How much is that "kit" going for on eBay (I can't go there at work)? You could get the hinges for under $5 I would guess. Most likely the trunk does not make as tight of a seal around the forward edges near the rear window. It probably rattles, too. All in all,

Looks kinda cheezy, but if you like it, then I say go for it. At least it's not permanent and you can swap it back to stock later.

I've seen some speedshops around here actually sell the kit. Looks like they bought it from Ebay or made their own and are selling it. A plain cardboard box with a photocopy of that picture you posted. It's like $15 if I remember correctly.

Just make sure you don't get the Altezzas with it.

Good point, I don't like Altezzas on ANY car, even those that come with it are nasty. I also don't like Carbon Fiber, it just looks so nasty, and I hate it when people put stickers and unneeded wings on the back of the car. I mean c'mon its FWD........

i wouldn't suggest you getting this "mod" if you live in a rainy area, because your trunk will become a water bucket... notice how the trunk top doesn't cover the trunk from rain anymore?!

Alright guys, stop flaming him, he gets the idea.

He doesn't even have it. His friend bought it for a Jetta and he wants to know if there are instructions available to download because the kit that was purchased didn't come with any.

haha...the trunk top doesn't cover the trunk anymore because it's open in that picture. i believe it's supposed to look normal when the trunk is closed. looks pretty stupid in my opinion...
