I forget how many clips there are or what to do next but I do remember that I tried banging it out with a rubber mallet and that didn't work so I took it to some wheel shop and the guy used an air hammer and hammered it out and hammered the new one in...I dont think this helps tho...

I replaced mine not too long ago. Don't recall there's any extra ring. However, took out the knuckle unit and hammered it out.

There is 1 c clip, remove it and pound the balljoint out with a bfh. It would be easier if you removed the whole steering knuckle. Pound the new balljoint in with a large socket and the bfh. Shouldnt take more than 15-20 min.

That is the "knuckle ring", it is basically a dustcap that you should be able to remove by tapping/prying it with a flathead screwdriver.

Ya i was just doing the bushes over the christmas and said i may aswell do the ball joints when im at it.

Had a bit of a look and like you saw that it would catch the dustcap thing so its good to know that isnt a huge problem

Now its off to get some ball joints and some other little bits. Hope Mr Honda has a sale on lol

I noticed the package saying Appl. Honda Accord/Civic/Prelude.

Parts nr 47281 / 51220-SB0-003
Batchnr052167

Seems like Honda is using the same joint on different models?!
That must mean that its great.
