Default for those of you with JDM EF8 gauge clusters

I have been having a problem with my cluster for the last 6 months and was wondering if any of you have had the same problem. so here it is. Full up the gas tank all the way and the fuel meter only indictates its at 3/4. i drive around with the needle below E for another 200 Km before it runs out of gas. I have replaced the fuel level sending unit even though mine tested good. I hot wired the the cluster and the unit to check for a short and checked the gas tank for dents. nothing. I am quickly running out of ideas.
Has anyone else with the EF8/9 cluster had the same problem? of course any help is welcome. thanks in advance.

this isnt the most technical fix....but fill the tank up....pull the cluster off and push the needle up to the 'full' line....

that's what i was going to suggest too. my friend has had that problem on two of his EF's (not on a JDM cluster though). but it was still the exact same problem....re-leveling the needle seemed to do the trick.

::Update::
I pilled the cluster and pushed the needle up to the top of the full line. filled the gas tank up and reinstalled the cluster. started the car and the needle dropped down to its origional position at 3/4 full. thanks for the help but anyother ideas?
