I may have been misinformed, or I am probably just real stupid. more likely. If I purchase a new Alpine deck that is XM ready, will XM info display through the deck or do I need the extra little unit too?
On the XM website it claims I still need to purchase one of their controllers. I understand the antenna deal, but just want to make sure I don't have to have the extra "deck" in the front seat to display the music.

there is one alpine that does have EVERYTHING u need, but all the others
u will need the xm controller and the cord to go from the head unit to the
"brain". the company that makes these peices is called terk.
hope that helps

"XM Ready" means that you can control the XM through the head unit, but you will still need an extra receiver box to process the signal.
However, Alpine does make one head unit (model CDA-9820XM) that has the receiver already built in and only needs an XM antenna.

Cool. Thanks Targa. That answers my question. The dink at Best Buy told me all i needed was a new XM deck and nothing else (besides the antenna). Unless I get the ding dang Alpine I will still need the other equipment. That is what I thought.
thanks
